I have a horizontal scar that is about two and a half inches long about midway down on the outside of my leg. In the future I would like to have a tattoo done over it. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what may look good in that area? I have other tattoos elsewhere and always wanted another but I’m drawing a blank as to what would be pleasing to the eye on that part of my body. Any thoughts very much appreciated.
First, consult a tattoo artist about tattooing over scar tissue. It’s a tricky thing, I’ve been told.
Second, I’m personally not a fan of calf tattoos, but the best ones, in my opinion, are the ones that work with the length of your leg. Whether it’s a dragon, or a floral motif, or a portrait, just make sure the overall shape works with the shape of your leg, instead of against it. If you wanted to do, say, a comic panel, run it vertically instead of horizontally. For the actual subject matter, that’s totally a personal preference, and something you should think about and research to decide. Figure out something you love enough to wear for the rest of your life. And remember, you don’t need a precise image. Your artist will work with you to create something special, just for you.
