Question by Jonathan R: Changed my tattoo design but already booked appointment?
Hello!
Recently, I decided it was time for me to get a tattoo, and I knew exactly what I wanted.
I wanted an iron cross, colored like the German flag (black on the top third, red middle, and yellow bottom), surrounded by the words True Love Never Dies in German.
I booked an appointment at the tattoo parlor I want to have it done at, and the woman in the front showed the artist my design.
My dilemma is, instead of an iron cross, I want now to have the German flag but in a star.
P.S., this star tattoo will be about 2 inches high and 2 inches across…not big.
If i go to the appointment and tell the artist I want a star instead of a cross, is this acceptable? or is this taboo, to change your idea on the spot like this?
I imagine that it can’t be that hard to quickly draw a plain stair with the German flag colors…
Thank you so much for any input! I greatly appreciate it!

Can’t you just call and ask first. It may not be a problem or you can just reschedule… That is what I would do. I’m sure they have that sort of thing happen all the time..If you have to reschedule then you will just have to..
What do you think? Answer below!

yes you can change it on the spot. take a picture with you if you have one. that will make it much easier.
call ahead an let them know just in case they are running behind that day they have all the stuff already for ur tat .
it shouldn’t be a problem. my friend changed her mind about her tattoo before her appt also, she just went in with the new design as soon as she found it and they didn’t care.
I think you should go in before your appointment and let them know you have changed your mind. You really should make sure it is exactly what you want. They may get a bit irritated but Im sure it happens often.
Changing it on the spot won’t be a problem.
They’ll let you change it, if they don’t, go somewhere else. It’s perfectly acceptable to change it, if they get mad about it remember it will be on your body the rest of your life not theirs.
If not inconvenient I’m sure the Artist would appreciate you popping in to explain your new design requirements. You mightn’t get him/her on the phone and I have had many message botched up in my many years of ink only to find artist knew nothing when I eventually arrived.
PS. Changing your mind is kool, after all it’s a lifelong decision.
I would take the new idea down to her before your appointment so that she can have it ready for your session. It’s okay to change your mind. She shouldn’t be upset…after all it is something on you for a lifetime so you need to get what you want. Good luck!
