Depends. Is it writing or symbols of any sort? If so, then you will first have to figure out the culture it is from.(if you don’t know then you can post a pic and ask this same question with the pic added in)

Most tribal tattoos are not literally tribal. These designs resemble those of tribal nature that appeared on many different tribes around the world. But in the the years since the first tribal tattoo made it into the mainstream audience, they have lost no real meaning other than to be “cool” “tough” looking.

That is not to say yours has no meaning. But the only way to get any meaning from a tribal tattoo design is to create one yourself and apply it tot he design.

Example: round curves could represent water. Sharp points could be a path or w/e. For the most part all the tribal tattoos on tribal people are usually based on a belief system. And indeed some of these tribal tattoos are meant to just look cool. I can’t remember the culture, but their soul purpose of tattooing the body, was so that it would look nice for the soul/spirit. The spirit would leave the body happy when you die.

So sad to say, unless you have gotten a design from a real tribal person(which is close to impossible in westernized society), then it is most likely a random collaboration of abstract lines that look good together. This can be a good or a bad thing depending on the person.
